Women In Reinsurance (WiRE) Celebrates A Successful Inaugural Year At Year-End Networking Event

7 December 2016

The Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) launched a sub-committee – Women in Reinsurance (WiRE) - in September to support women in the reinsurance industry. Its main focus in the first year has been to build the community and provide networking opportunities. Since its official launch event in September, WiRE hosted a TED-style talk with businesswomen sharing their personal experiences on how diversity had played a significant part in their journey in becoming an entrepreneur. To cap off an eventful year, WiRE hosted its third event of the year - a year-end and networking event – on Tuesday evening, which was attended by over 50 industry professionals.

“At our launch event, we asked the WiRE community to vote for the activity that would most interest them and keep them actively involved with WiRE. Networking was the number one priority by far for most respondents, and we have taken their feedback seriously”, states Anna Kohls, a WiRE Sub-Committee member. Expanding one’s network was the theme for the event, and making new connections was incentivised by prizes for the best networkers of the night.

Kenrick Law, an SRA Executive Committee member and Regional CEO and Head of P&C Client Management Asia Pacific at Allianz Re, which was sponsor for the event, said “We are pleased to see the achievements made by WiRE in its first year. Their plans for 2017 are a compelling offering for our talented women in the industry”.
